The risual Foundation launches a Careers Club initiative to help recovery from COVID-19

Published:

In the aftermath of COVID-19, the risual Foundation is planning to play its part in the region’s economic recovery.  One of the risual Foundation’s first acts will be to launch a Careers Club with a focus on helping getting people back on their feet and back into work.
risual Co-Founder and Foundation Trustee, Richard Proud says: “We set out at the start of the year to set up and establish an initiative which could make a positive impact, not just here in Staffordshire where we are based but hopefully across a wider region.”  Richard added: “ the Careers Club was an idea that our Foundation members were keen to do in light of COVID-19 and hopefully, using our knowledge and experiences, we can play our part in helping get people back into work and even perhaps help those would-be entrepreneurs launch their own businesses”.
The announcement from risual coincides with unemployment claims on the rise both at a national level and across the West Midlands and growing concern that redundancies may be about to rise further over the coming months. In Staffordshire (excluding Stoke-on-Trent) 168,300 workers received support up to the end of June 2020, with 39,500 receiving self-employed support of £89.1m, and 128,800 on furlough.
risual already has a proven track record of giving people a chance with many apprentices and graduates starting their careers at risual, some of whom remain with the company today.  With its breadth of skills internally and spread across the foundation members the foundation will be focussing on:
 • Online content and online appointments.
 • CV hints and tips.
 • Confidence building exercises.
 • Interview preparation practice.
 • Help with emotional intelligence and body language.
 • Reading and learning suggestions.
 • Access to the risual Learning Platform to help with digital literacy.
